I don’t think she did but it, at least not new. I believe it was acquired used somewhere. In any case, it was a fine investment. It’s an interesting book.

Adlai Stevenson comes up quite a bit in my reading, but I’m embarrassed to admit that the first fact that comes to mind when I think about him is something I read in a Steve Harvey’s Rest of the Story collection when I was about 8: that, as a boy, Stevenson accidentally killed another kid while playing a gun.

Well, that, and that he always seemed a little too decent and not quite ruthless enough for politics.

I would direct you to “They Also Ran,” by Irving Stone, a collection of biographies on people who ran for the presidency and lost, though since it was published in the ’40s, you won’t read about AES. There are some interesting stories in there.
