I’d like to add the tag, “examples of Andrew Jackson’s stupidity.” With the Jackson, Van Buren and Buchanon posts as the first three. Of course, I also irrationally hate Andrew Jackson with every bone in my body, so I’m probably not the best person to be giving advice on that front.

Buchanan died in 1868. He spent most of his time after leaving the White House writing his memoirs. He tried to exonerate himself for any blame for the Civil War. Historians consider the work to be quite self-serving.

I have a question after reading this again…when did Buchanan die? During the Civil War, or did he outlive Lincoln? If he did, I’m curious how he dealt with Lincoln’s success…

Taylor didn’t like Clay, but Clay just didn’t have much respect for Taylor.

Buchanan would have received the tag if he had been in office while Clay was still alive. I’m not here for Senatorial beefs.

Bob is apparently very stingy with the the Guys Henry Clay Didn’t Like tag. He also didn’t give it to Zachary Taylor, despite the fact that in his post Bob repeated an anecdote that showed how the two didn’t get along.
