So if Crawford just went and holed up in his home state of Georgia, not many people would know what was going on. Crawford also had a lot of friends whom he had appointed to government jobs.

Crawford actually lived for another 10 years.

JQA really liked the metric system and observatories. He ended up being the Representative who administered the grant that established the Smithsonian. He decided it would be better as a set of museums like it is today instead of a university.
